Australia (Privacy Policy)
This Australia Privacy Notice ("Notice") explains how Verifone, Inc. and its direct and indirect parent and subsidiary companies listed here (collectively, "Verifone", "Company", or "We"), collects and handles your personal information in accordance with its legal obligations, including those under the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) ("Privacy Act") and the Australian Privacy Principles ("APPs").
If you are a cardholder or consumer who has used one of our terminals at a point of sale and would like information on payment processing, please contact the merchant/retailer directly.

1. Scope
This Notice applies to personal information we collect from you (or about you) in connection with your interaction with Verifone in a business context, including when you engage with us online or offline, and including via www.verifone.com. This includes when you:
- Visit or interact with our websites;
- Complete a form on our websites;
- Contact us by email, telephone, mail, or other means;
- Request a quotation, support, downloads, or information;
- Purchase a product, service, or solution;
- Create or manage an account;
- Register or activate a device (e.g., payment terminal);
- Apply for financing or commercial credit;
- Register for events, webinars, or services;
- Subscribe to newsletters, event notices, or information materials;
- Participate in surveys, webinars, contests, or other promotional activities;
The types of personal information we collect may include:
- Work contact details: such as name, work address, phone number, mobile phone number, email address, and online contact details, including but not limited to unique identification and password for access to our website, mobile applications, and/or social media features.
- Position description: such as employer, title, position held.
- Authentication data: such as passport, driver’s license, other governmental identification information, home address and telephone number, documents that verify address, date of birth, country of domicile, documents that verify employment, marriage certificate (if you act as a personal guarantor), and signature authorization.
- Background check data: such as background check information, including credit and criminal checks and screening, to the extent required or permitted by local law.
- Financial data: such as credit or payment card number, bank account number, billing address.
- Surveillance data: such as images and voices captured by CCTV video and audio surveillance equipment installed (to the extent permitted by local law) onto the business premises of a Verifone entity, if you visit our business premises.
- Electronic and voice communications data: such as content, data, recordings, IP addresses, domain names, and session identification data relating to business communications with Verifone through all applicable communication channels, including email, text messages (SMS) you send to or receive from our customer support numbers, consent/opt-in and opt-out records (e.g., date/time, method, and content of consent), and basic messaging metadata (such as timestamps, delivery status, and carrier information), instant message or chat, transcriptions, telephone communications, audio or video calls, voice recordings, video recordings, and presentations hosted by Verifone.
If you choose to participate in one of our online surveys, which we conduct to better understand our customers' needs, we may request additional categories of personal information from you.
From time to time, we may receive personal information about you from third party sources (including resellers, distributors, banks, credit agencies, risk management service providers, couriers, identify verification, and other third parties that sell, service or support Verifone products or solutions), but only where these third parties are legally permitted or required to disclose your personal information to us. The types of information we may collect from third parties include identifiers and contact details, billing information, business history, business registration, and delivery details. We use the information we receive from these third parties to provide the requested product, service, or solution.
2. Purposes of Collection and Use of Personal Information
In general, we will use the personal information we collect from you only for the purposes described in this Notice or for similarly compatible purposes, or for purposes that we explain to you at the time we collect your personal information.
In particular, we will use your personal information for our legitimate business and commercial purposes, including to:
- Provide the products, services, or solutions you purchase, to carry out the terms of our agreements with you and to manage our business relationship (e.g., processing and fulfilling orders and transactions);
- Maintain and service your account (including activating, registering, or updating products you have purchased from us, e.g., payment terminal);
- Provide customer service (including sending important notices regarding our terms, conditions, and policies; informing you of upcoming events, updates, news, and the latest product, service, solution, and other offerings where this is in accordance with your communications preferences);
- Improve, upgrade, and enhance our service (including developing new products and services) by, among other things, reviewing customer feedback, assessing how you use our products and services, monitoring and reviewing call recordings, online chats, and other business activity for quality assurance, training, and compliance purposes, including to improve AI-generated summaries of calls, and testing and validating the effectiveness of products, services and system enhancements.
- Conduct auditing and due diligence (including credit reference checks, identity verification, and other financial due diligence);
- Perform accounting, auditing, billing reconciliation, and collection, and other internal business functions;
- Undertake internal research for technological development (including performing data analysis and processing, market and consumer research, customer satisfaction research, trend analysis, and financial analysis);
- Undertake activities to verify and maintain the quality and safety of our products, services, and solutions;
- Detect security incidents and protect against malicious, deceptive, fraudulent, or illegal activity (including protection against fraud and other unlawful activity, claims and other liabilities; establishing, exercising, and defending legal rights; complying with our legal and regulatory obligations under applicable law; and maintaining the physical security of our premises and electronic security);
- Operate and manage our websites and perform debugging to identify and repair errors;
- Develop, train, test, and deploy artificial intelligence models and related tools to protect our customers from fraud and scams, respond to your enquiries and provide support (including recording, transcribing, and summarising those interactions, such as via online chat), develop and improve products and services that better meet our customers’ needs, analyse how our products and services are used and identify trends in customer behaviour, generate insights about how you use and interact with our products and services (which may involve deriving information from your interactions), and communicate with you or your representatives about our products and services, including partners’ offerings that may be of interest to you; and
- Comply with legal and regulatory obligations, not limited to complaint handling.
Sometimes we may also use your information in anonymized, de-identified, or aggregated form that does not enable the identification of any individual customer to evaluate and improve our offerings, or to share de-identified information with businesses and government.
3.Direct marketing
From time to time, we may also use and disclose your personal information for direct marketing purposes, including to tell you about our products and services or our partners’ products and services that we think may be of interest and value to you. We will stop if you tell us to.
We may contact you by various means, including by mail, telephone, email, SMS, or other electronic means (such as targeted advertising on social media and other media provider platforms, through our websites, or through our online services).
We may use third-party providers to facilitate direct marketing, such as:
- marketing companies or mail houses that send messages on our behalf; or
- social media and other media providers who deliver our targeted advertising on their platforms.
If you do not want to receive marketing and sales materials from us, you also have the right to opt out of marketing communications we send you. You can do so by clicking on the "unsubscribe" or "opt-out" link in the marketing communication we send you, by sending your request to privacy@verifone.com, or by submitting a written request using our contact details listed below. We will comply with your request within a reasonable period of time after receiving it or within the time period required by local law.
We also use third-party web analytics services that may collect information such as your IP address, browser type, operating system, device identifier, geographic area, referring URLs, and other technical information through cookies and similar tracking technologies.
Collecting this information enables us to better understand the visitors who come to our websites, where they come from, and which content on our websites interests them. We use this information for internal analytics and to improve the quality and relevance of our websites for our visitors. Some of this information may be collected using cookies and similar tracking technology. You can set your browser to block cookies, delete previously stored cookies, or alert you about these cookies, but some parts of the site may become inaccessible or not function properly.

4. Personal Information We Share
We may disclose your personal information to the following categories of recipients, including for the business purposes described above:
- To the Verifone group of companies, third-party service providers, and partners who provide data processing services to us or who otherwise process personal information for purposes that are described in this Notice or as communicated to you when we collect your personal information. Service providers and partners include repair or installation services, banks, helpdesks, anti-fraud services, credit agencies, risk management service providers, resellers or distributors, debt-collection agencies, couriers, platform providers, SMS aggregators, and wireless carriers that assist us in delivering mobile messages, contract manufacturers, and product suppliers. - To any competent law enforcement body, regulatory, government agency, court or other third party where we believe disclosure is necessary or permitted (i) as a matter of applicable law or regulation, (ii) to exercise, establish protect, or defend our legal rights or property, (iii) protect against any legal liability, or (v) to protect your vital interests or those of any other person;
- In connection with any proposed purchase, merger, reorganization, acquisition, dissolution, or liquidation of any part of our business, provided that we inform the third party that it must use your personal information only for the purposes disclosed in this Notice; and
- To any other person with your specific consent to the disclosure.
5. Data Security
While no data security system can fully protect personal information from unauthorized data breaches, we have implemented appropriate legal, technical, physical, and organizational security measures in an effort to prevent the loss, misuse, unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction of personal information.
We store hard copy and electronic records in secure environments and systems, including through carefully selected service providers that support our operations.
We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, including to meet business and legal requirements. When personal information is no longer needed, we take reasonable steps to destroy or de-identify it.
No method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
6. Your Rights and Choices
You can contact us to request access to the personal information we hold about you by completing the Personal Information Rights Request Form.
There is no fee to request your information, but we may charge a fee to cover the time we spend gathering the information you requested. If there’s a fee, we’ll let you know how much it is likely to be, so you can choose whether to go ahead.
We try to make your information available within 30 days of your request.
In some cases, we may refuse access or grant you access only to certain information. For example, we might not let you see information that involves other people. If we do this, we will write to you explaining our decision.
Please contact us if your contact details change or if you think we hold incorrect personal information about you. Where we agree that the personal information needs to be corrected, we will update it. If we do not agree, you can request that we document your correction request with the relevant information.
7. International Personal Information Transfers
Sometimes, we may send your personal information overseas. For example, our website servers are located in the United States, and our third-party service providers and affiliates operate worldwide. If we do this, we ensure that appropriate privacy, data-handling, and security arrangements are in place to protect your personal information.
8. Privacy Complaints
If you would like to make a complaint, please submit your complaint in writing to the contact details below. We will respond to a written complaint within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may be able to file a complaint with your data protection authority or privacy commissioner in Australia.

We may update this Notice from time to time in response to changing legal, technical, or business developments. You can see when this Notice was last updated at the top of this page.
