Verifone Engage Goes Live in Europe

German fashion retailer rolls out next generation device for fast, secure, convenient consumer experiences in time for the holidays

Verifone (NYSE: PAY) announces the European launch of Verifone Engage with the all-in-one countertop solution, Verifone V200c, installed at Anne Rueschenschmidt, a boutique fashion retailer in Rheine in northern Germany. A key strategic milestone in building a commerce-enabled payment infrastructure in Europe, Verifone Engage family of devices are now available to small- to medium-sized businesses (SMB) across Germany through InterCard, a leading network service provider (NSP) acquired by Verifone in 2015.


Targeting hundreds of thousands of SMBs in Germany, Verifone is working through InterCard and other NSPs to reach retailers that will need a smart, affordable payment technology and design upgrade to accept increasing payment options at faster speeds, and meet local regulatory requirements by end of 2017.

Secure payment, ease-of-use and modern optics were determining factors for owner Anne Rueschenschmidt who said: “We had many customers using the new device our first weekend and we were happy to smoothly and quickly accept mobile wallets and contactless payments. We are now in the process of equipping four more stores with Verifone to prepare for a busy holiday season when we are keen to serve customers efficiently using the latest technology.” 

The key features of the compact, ergonomic V200c are ideal for the needs of small- to medium-sized retailers wishing to always stay connected with traditional Ethernet dial-up or more advanced connectivity options like WiFi and Bluetooth. The V200c accepts all payment types including NFC/contactless, mobile wallets, mobile pay and EMV chip cards. With more memory to support rich, multimedia apps, merchants can integrate the device with a cash register or use as a standalone solution for the greatest possible flexibility available in the market.
