Celebrating Women

Verifone
Editorial Board

This year, Verifone Asia Pacific extended International Women’s Day, observed on the 8th of March each year, to acknowledge women's contributions and challenges for the remainder of March. Around the region, Verifone offices hosted morning teas to celebrate the successes of our female colleagues and we shared resources with our teams to encourage them to embrace this year's theme, #ChooseToChallenge.

At Verifone, we foster a culture that respects and values the individual contributions and differences that inspire innovation, leadership, and exceptional performance. We understand that supporting a diverse and inclusive work environment is important to our success and growth as a company. Women’s full and effective participation and leadership in all areas of life drives progress for everyone. Yet, women are still underrepresented in public life and decision-making. To continue closing the gender gap, the world needs women at every table where decisions are being made.

As we reflect on the past month, let us be a part of the solution and choose to challenge the inequalities and biases we see in our workplace, and around us in society. May we all strive to be an active voice and supporter of women so that together we can forge a better future for all.

#ChooseToChallenge

The International Women's Day campaign theme for 2021 is #ChoosetoChallenge. We can all choose to challenge and call out gender bias and inequality. We can all choose to seek out and celebrate women's achievements. Collectively, we can all help create an inclusive world.

We asked members of our Wellington office in New Zealand to show their commitment to building a more gender-equal world by pledging how they will #ChooseToChallenge.

Celebrating Women @ Verifone

For International Women's Day 2020, we profiled some of these fantastic women working behind the scenes at Eftpos NZ (a Verifone company in New Zealand) and asked some of them to share their story and unique perspective on working in Payments. Read the article here.

“The world needs strong women who will lift and build others. Who will love and be loved. Women who live bravely, both tender and fierce; women of indomitable will."

International Women's Day Morning Teas

We hosted IWD morning teas at Verifone offices around Asia Pacific to thank the women of Verifone for their efforts driving innovation in payments every day. These events also give us the opportunity to bring focus to the challenges women face in the workplace, and elsewhere, and start conversations about how to proactively challenge bias, stigma and stereotypes.
