The Power Supply and Battery Engineer is a member of the Verifone Global Quality team. The candidate is responsible to validate and qualify new power management solution, power supply, battery and related accessories in conjunction with new product development, alternative power management solutions and Corporate Green Energy initiatives.

Essential duties and responsibilities
  • Participate in design validation of product's power management solutions to achieve maximum efficient battery life in field applications and ensure regulatory and safety requirement are planned.
  • Coordinate and conduct design review in accordance to relevant standards (UL/IEEE) and hardware quality validation tests on terminal products, individual battery, power supply and related accessories.
  • Validate and approve product and performance specifications for battery and power supply including regulatory and safety compliance.
  • Participate with Supplier Quality team to assess supplier manufacturing process for improvement in process control and supplier delivered quality performance.
  • Conduct research and feasibility evaluation of new power technology and maintain Technology roadmap for power supply and battery.
  • Leverage on battery and power supply design and manufacturing process know-how to identify continuous quality improvement opportunities through failure analysis of field returns.
Required Knowledge and Experience
  • BS or MS degree in ME/EE/Chemistry.
  • Minimum 8 years related work experience; e.g. Process and Quality control / Design validation / Quality Assurance.
  • Experience with regulatory, test and certification standards (such as UL, CE, ISO, FCC, IEEE, EnergyStar, etc.).
  • Candidate should possess strong technical writing and communication skills.
  • Demonstrate competence and understanding in all phases of product development life cycle, from product conceptualization to mass production.
  • Experience working in a distributed engineering group, working with in-house and external staff and outsource model.
  • The individual should have a technical background and the ability to work independently as well as have strong project management skills.
  • The candidate should have a strong work ethic, be innovative, possess initiative, be positive, and be people oriented.
  • Technical writing and fundamental problem solving skills required.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Can-do attitude.
