Under supervision, designs, develops and analyzes mechanical systems, equipment and packaging. Performs simple to moderate engineering tasks; solves engineering problems of limited scope or complexity to allow senior engineer and functional manager concentrate on strategic and managerial issues. Conduct feasibility studies and testing on new and modified designs. Coordinates and/or prepares detailed design, design testing and prototype fabrication. Provides design information to drafting for packaging documentation.

Essential duties and responsibilities
  • Assist design engineer to implement mechanical design concept on ME CAD Tool in order to reflect the expected outcome by design engineer.
  • Assist design engineer in verifying design tolerance and parameters that meet drawing specification so that all design parameters are thoroughly verified as part of prototype phase exit criteria.
  • Assist design engineer in bringing up mechanical system design through prototype builds by CMs to prepare hardware prototype ready to satisfy the need for each prototype phase.
  • Under supervision of senior engineer, conduct design verification test on EVT and DVT prototypes to verify mechanical system design for each prototype phase per project plan.
  • Conduct first article inspection and validation test for injection molded plastic parts per part drawing and specification, from component level to mechanical assembly.
  • Qualify plastic tooling, qualify part design and its assembly.
  • Collect data for failure analysis and prepare initial report for senior engineer.
  • Release part design and assembly drawing through ECO to ensure on time release and well thought ECO coverage and affectivity.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) in Mechanical Engineering or related field preferred from college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • ME CAD tool (SolidWork and/or Pro-E) or 6 months to become proficient.
