Initially this position will have direct supervision to achieve structured and assigned objectives. Conducts engineering tests and detailed experimental testing to collect design data or assist in research work. Work closely with development engineers to create design prototypes and models. Troubleshoot prototype and model failures.

Under supervision, designs, develops and analyzes mechanical systems, equipment and packaging. Performs simple to moderate engineering tasks; solves engineering problems of limited scope or complexity to allow senior engineer and functional manager concentrate on strategic and managerial issues. Conduct feasibility studies and testing on new and modified designs. Coordinates and/or prepares detailed design, design testing and prototype fabrication. Provides design information to drafting for packaging documentation.

Essential duties and responsibilities
  • Applies basic research principles and standard laboratory instrumentation to engineering design efforts; tests designs, calibrates instrumentation, troubleshoots mechanical/electronic systems;
  • Participates in report writing to document instrumentation developments and tests;
  • Develops basic practical engineering skills to enhance technical competence and versatility.
Required Knowledge and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or appropriate field with relevant experience, or demonstrated competency as an Engineer.
