The Engineering Director oversees the activities of an engineering function in support of a business unit or engineering function for payment system development. Manage and direct the organization toward its primary technological objectives based on long term product profitability goals. Lead the development of strategic and technology plans. Resolves complex issues across organizational boundaries. Responsible for ensuring projects are cost effective, timely, reliable and of high quality consistent with VeriFone goals and targets.

Essential duties and responsibilities
  • Define staffing levels and identify talented candidates for potential hire.
  • Manage performance through setting objectives, providing performance feedback/coaching and evaluation.
  • Motivate employees to over-achieve and correct performance problems.
  • Develop staff skills and abilities to meet business needs.
  • Actively support company programs and ensure adherence to company rules and procedures.
  • Administer compensation actions within company guidelines.
  • Monitor assigned budget and meet financial goals.
Required Knowledge and Experience
  • BS degree in engineering or related field
  • A minimum of 6 to 10 years of progressively responsible experience to include five years in a supervisory capacity in the area of hardware and software system product development are required.
  • Demonstrates leadership and influence skills
  • Possesses strong leadership skills; with the ability to manage and achieve results through multiple; cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to rapidly and clearly communicate issues, options, benefits, and recommendations to technical and business team members.
  • Possesses strong analytical and deductive reasoning skills and is capable of thinking through problems in a systematic and logical manner.
  • Ability to balance multiple competing projects and to communicate project status, issues and requirements.
  • Demonstrates ability to attract, build and retain a team of high-performing individuals; must be adept at assessing, coaching and effectively managing employee performance.
  • Strong listening, written and verbal communication skills. Sensitive to the business' financial performance.
  • Frequent travel as needed to US and International VeriFone offices, design centers and Customer locations.
  • Strong verbal, written and presentation communication skills; excellent computer skills including MS.
